Port of Long Beach Press Release

Public Eager to Book Popular Port Tours
About 900 reservations already made for the 90-minute excursions

April 10, 2008

Online reservations are going fast for the Port of Long Beach's harbor tour, a behind-the-scenes look at the country's second-busiest seaport.

From May through October, the free, 90-minute narrated Port tours delight boatloads of residents from Long Beach and beyond. On the tour, you can see cargo operations close-up and learn how the Port has become a leader in environmental stewardship.

Reservations are made by going to the "Community" section of www.polb.com. The three cruises in May and the four in June are already booked solid.

It's recommended that residents seeking a berth on one of the 10 a.m. Saturday or 2 p.m. Tuesday cruises bookmark the Port's web site and check at the beginning of each month as additional reservations are opened up for July on into October. People who don't have access to a computer can call the Port at (562) 590-4121.

"There's no better way to see the Port than on one of our narrated boat tours," said Port Executive Director Richard D. Steinke.

The tours depart from Shoreline Village's Rainbow Harbor in downtown Long Beach.
